Diesel fuel is in the kerosene family so it should work nearly as well and the Gunk. There are safer alternatives however, and if it were my auto, I'd use those instead.

My point was simply if you prefer 30 Grade no reason not to blend the 5W-40 and a 5W-20 50/50 to get your preferred grade.

It sounds like a good idea on the surface, but as explained in the other answer; once an engine is old enough that a mechanic thinks an engine flush would be a good idea, then it's too late.
